Peacock Unveils First Look at ‘The Paper,’ New Mockumentary Series from ‘The Office’ Universe

Peacock has officially revealed the first look at The Paper, an upcoming mockumentary series set in the same universe as the beloved sitcom The Office. The reveal came during NBCUniversal’s 2025 upfront presentation, where cast members Domhnall Gleeson, Sabrina Impacciatore, and returning Office star Oscar Nuñez took the stage to introduce the new show. The Paper is set to premiere in September 2025, with a specific date to be announced soon.

According to the official logline, The Paper follows the same documentary crew that filmed The Office as they search for their next story. Their journey leads them to a struggling Midwestern newspaper, the Toledo Truth-Teller, and its determined publisher. Oscar Nuñez reprises his role as Oscar, now working as an accountant at the paper — and clearly unimpressed to see the film crew again.

Domhnall Gleeson plays an idealistic new hire, while Sabrina Impacciatore stars as the paper’s tough, passionate managing editor. The ensemble cast also includes Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, and Tim Key.

The Paper is co-created by Greg Daniels, the developer of the U.S. version of The Office, and Michael Koman. The series is executive produced by Daniels, Koman, and The Office originals Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, Howard Klein, Ben Silverman, and Banijay Americas. Universal Television serves as the studio behind the show.

This new series is part of a broader push for original content on Peacock, joining other newly announced shows like the animated Ted series, The Burbs reboot starring Keke Palmer, and Dig, a comedy led by Amy Poehler.

With familiar faces and fresh storytelling, The Paper aims to recapture the quirky workplace charm that made The Office a cultural phenomenon.
