Stuart Skinner Gets the Start in Goal for Oilers in Western Round 2 Game 3

Stuart Skinner will return as the starting goaltender for the Edmonton Oilers in Game 3 of their Western Conference Second Round series against the Vegas Golden Knights at Rogers Place on Saturday. This decision comes after Calvin Pickard, who secured victories in the first two games of the series, sustained a lower-body injury during the third period of Game 2.

Skinner, who last played on April 23, was pulled in the third period after allowing five goals on 28 shots in a 6-2 loss to the Los Angeles Kings in Game 2 of the first round. Despite a challenging start to the postseason, with an 0-2 record, a 6.11 goals-against average, and a .810 save percentage, Skinner is eager to seize this opportunity.

Reflecting on his return, Skinner stated, "It's an opportunity for me to do my job and just give these guys a chance to do; that's all I can do. I'll just go out there and play my game."

Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch expressed confidence in Skinner's readiness, noting his previous strong performances after breaks during last season's playoff run. "We're expecting [Skinner] to come in and deliver what he's done before," Knoblauch said.

Pickard, who had a 2.84 GAA and an .888 save percentage in the postseason, is listed as day-to-day following the injury.
